Nature Therapy
by sunil sharma

In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.

Nature is sacred. When you encounter it’s majesty, it transforms your mindset. Have you ever spent a few days laying on sand, looking at the ocean, and hearing the sound of crashing waves? Have you ever spent a few days in the crisp, clean mountain air looking at magnificent pine trees and calm mirror-like lakes? Nature is imbued with wisdom and it has much to share.

Studies have shown that walking in the woods can improve blood pressure, boost mental health, and decrease cancer risk. Feeling down? Take a hike.More than half of the world’s population lives in urban settings, and that is forecast to rise to 70 percent within a few decades. Just as urbanization and disconnection from nature have grown dramatically, so have mental disorders such as depression. In fact, city dwellers have a 20 percent higher risk of anxiety disorders and a 40 percent higher risk of mood disorders as compared to people in rural areas. People born and raised in cities are twice as likely to develop schizophrenia.

humans do need to spend time in natural environments if they want to improve their physical and mental health. That could mean taking advantage of hiking trails near your home, playing in the snow, swimming in the ocean, or just spending time every week in a local park.

Nature contact also plays a crucial role in brain development. Growing research suggests that just about any kind of green space—from hiking trails and coastlines to soccer fields and local parks—can make you happier and boost your mental health.
