We are not meant to be sick!

“The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease” ― Thomas A. Edison

Everything we need to stay healthy is found in our kitchen. Our food choices and the way we cook the food hold the most profound influence on our health. For years people have been eating foods that damage rather then nourish their bodies. Our woeful obsession with meat is literally killing us and the science can no longer be ignored.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified processed red meat as a carcinogen, something that causes cancer.According to the World Health Organization (WHO), diet is second only to tobacco as a potentially preventable cause of cancer, accounting for up to 30% of cancers in industrialized countries. 22 experts from 10 countries reviewed more than 800 studies to reach their conclusions. They found that eating 50 grams of processed meat every day increased the risk of colorectal cancer by 18%. That’s the equivalent of about 4 strips of bacon or 1 hot dog. For red meat, there was evidence of increased risk of colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancer.

Einstein once wrote: “Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.”

Animal based diet hardly provide antioxidants. Antioxidants are nutrients — including vitamins like E and C — that prevent or slow oxidative damage throughout the body. when cells use oxygen, they naturally generate free radicals (by-products) which can cause cellular damage.

Antioxidants act as free radical hunters that often prevent and repair damage done by the free radicals. Oxidative damage and free radicals can contribute to serious health problems such as heart disease, macular degeneration, and diabetes. Oxidative stress through merely animal based diet, food additives, environmental contaminants, and pollution creates a daily formation of free radicals in the human body. While the body produces some antioxidants naturally, it relies on dietary sources (primarily fruits and vegetables) to deliver a healthy dose of antioxidant defense. Evidence suggests that antioxidant compounds found mostly in fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains play an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Based on all these studies, we can prevent and reverse any disease with a whole food plant-based diet.
